Studley High’s Musician of the Year 2019

Returning to where it all began, I recently had the immense honour of judging Studley High School’s Musician of the Year 2019. This surreal and moving experience brought my musical journey full circle.

Back in 2004, I graduated from Studley High with the Musician of the Year award, a moment that set the stage for what would later become dAudio Music Group. So to be invited back, not as a performer, but as an adjudicator, was both humbling and inspiring. Standing on the same stage I once played on, surrounded by incredible young talent, reminded me of how important those early opportunities are.

The competition was fierce, with students from all year groups showcasing outstanding musical skill, creativity, and confidence. From dynamic drumming to emotive piano solos and powerful vocal performances, Studley High continues to nurture some of the region's most promising young musicians.

Choosing the winners was no easy task, but here were the final results:

  • 🥇 1st Place: Katherine (Piano & Vocals) – Creep
  • 🥈 2nd Place: Emily W. (Piano) – River Flows In You
  • 🥉 3rd Place: Dylan (Piano) – Moonlight Sonata
  • 🏆 Junior Winner: Skye (Vocals) – I Dreamed A Dream
  • 🌟 Most Promising Musician: Emily W.
  • 🎖️ Highly Commended: Niall (Drums) & Toby (Piano)

A huge thank you to the staff and students at Studley High for having me. It was an unforgettable night and a true honour to give back to the school that helped spark my love for music.
