With help from the University of Wolverhampton SPEED+ Program…
dAudio Studios was founded by Alex Dudley (BA. MSc.) in early 2015.
After his own viral video success, we worked with folk singer-songwriter Matthew Finch to record and release an official track & music video for Ivy’s Dream Song.
Our love for working with independent bands and artists – on all aspects of the music industry – lead to the beginning of dAudio Records and the dAudio Music Group collective.
With a love for innovation, we began to explore creative solutions related to music and technology.
dAudio LABS was formed after a partnership with Dr. Aglaia Foteinou from the University of Wolverhampton.
We completed our first project for a sound installation at the Charlecote Park National Trust Site in 2016. (see picture)
Although now focusing on the digital realm of technology & music…
dAudio LABS aim is to enable musicians to effortlessly leverage the vast array of tools available to them online.
Our first year was filled with meeting all sorts of amazing and talented people.
One of our highlights was meeting Imogen Heap and friends at her Mycelia Hackathon Event in London.
Dismantling & rewiring the studio was a faff…
But, we moved into our new location situated in Hollywood, Birmingham in the summer of 2016.
Live music videos filmed and recorded at dAudio Studios
We were honoured to be awarded Graduate Start-up of the Year amongst titans of industry at the Molineux Stadium
With support from 1000 Trades Bar in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter…
We began a series of live music events called “dAudio Uncovered” aimed at showcasing independent singer-songwriters original music.
Between making lots of music with clients, live shows, and vlogging…
The studio needed a new floor.
After many weeks of espressos and discussions at the local coffee shop – and with some individual commercial successes & several great records under their belts – Alex Dudley & Matthew Finch decided to combine their efforts to build a music licensing venture.
This led to the partnership of COFFEESHOP Music, a new start-up with the aim of helping visual storytellers find outstanding music & samples for their work.
After speaking with all the amazing bands and musicians we met over the years, we noticed that the industry was shifting and independent musicians now had access to the same tools as the major labels.
This led to the creation of The DIY Musician as a blog & consultation service to help artists & bands thrive in the new music industry and find their 1000 true fans.
Our mission is to support and empower independent creators.
In these rapidly changing times… our goal is to enable them to thrive in the new era of the music industry.
